Long-time Educator Rita Pierson tells it like it is: Kids aren’t going to learn from someone they hate. You’re going to have to build a relationship of mutual trust with your students if you want them to respect you, and learn from you.

Her tips:

  • Seek first to understand, instead of to be understood
  • Apologize
