Need Help Engaging Student In Reading When Resources Are Limited?

reThink the Canon Online Course

If you're on my mailing list, you probably already heard about this yesterday. If not, the email is in your inbox and will be there when you get to it.

That said, I've partnered with my friend and colleague, Danielle O'Rourke, who is the English department chair at Moore High School, to create an online course to help you create engaging lesson plans for your secondary ELA students, even when your resources are limited.

We are calling it reThink the Canon because it's about how we can rethink how we teach the canon, both in terms of how we select the texts and how we design the units.

This course is based on student-centered learning, backward-design, and central-design research to help you create literature units that will engage your students in authentic, research, and standards-based reading and writing processes and assessments.

We're still designing the course as you're reading this, but we'd love to give you the opportunity to be the first people in. Just sign up on our waiting list below. It's totally free and we'll be providing early access to the first two lessons.
