During our second week of school, I taught my students how to summarize a paragraph using the journalistic five W’s and the H method. I know from previous experience that many students, even in high school, struggle with this concept, so I want to start early practicing different methods. Several of my students have comment that this method has provided them with an easy-to-understand way to summarize.
Their comments made my day. Here’s one:
